A beautiful custom that has always warmed my heart.
Amy, it has stayed in my mind, the section of your book (THE RAINY SEASON)
where the teacher only criticizes (harshly, nastily) in kreyol the unfed
children who would actually like to hear what he is teaching in French,
which they do not understand.
Would I be offbase in thinking these are the teachers that demand no eye
contact?
