I thought that article was terrible so I tried to find out about the source.
It came from an Australian newspaper, which seems to be a parody of the
news. The Chaser seems to be a periodical and its motto is "striving for
mediocrity in a world of excellence."
I did not find the article funny, but, hey, humor is cultural I guess.
