This is strictly hearsay, but in inquiring for my recent trip 3 weeks ago
and confirmed by others I met in Haiti, The U.S. Embassy has only a skeleton
staff in Haiti now and are considering relocating to another area.  In an
emergency where you could get to the Embassy, they may be able to assist,
but they have no resources to provide security to American citizens in Haiti
now.
