Thanks and congratulations to Leonardo Aldridge (reporter) and especially to
photographer Ramon Espinosa for taking the trip to Les Cayes (okay), which
so many journalists fail to do. Espinosa's beautiful photographs,
especially the one of Haitian women under an umbrella (and copious green
tree growth, a ruin just visible in the distance) show the Haiti so rarely
seen or written about, it being so far from the airport and luxury hotels in
Port-au-Prince. The photos are available by going to www.yahoo.com, typing
"haiti news photos" and hitting Search, and then selecting #1. When last I
visited the site, for some reason Bolivian photos were the first viewed; I
think kay was about # 6. This was t he Haiti I fell in love with in 1999.
