The National Center of the Haitian Apostolate will be very happy to have
you at our mini-convention at the Pastoral College on Saturday August 20,
2005 at St. Jerome church in Brooklyn from 9:00-5:00. This day will be an
engaging and learning spiritual experience for the Haitian Catholic community in
the diaspora and other faiths who will attend. In fact, the event will offer
all participants an innovative keynote speaker, interactive workshops, live
spiritual music, a beautiful liturgy and of course breakfast and homemade Haitian
lunch. The alumni of the two year Haitian Pastoral Institute will welcome all
faiths. The theme will be âThe Eucharist, one Body and Many Parts.â One of
the workshops will unravel around âThe Eucharist, Symbol of Unity and
Collaboration.â
The director of the National Center, Msgr. Guy Sansaricq, will take this
opportunity to make an official announcement of the date and the
location of next year's 24th Convention of the National Center. Building
a foundation for the convention will be a difficult but exciting
process, and we hope that many of you will join us as we begin that
work. We continue to believe that it is very important to worship
together if we want to spread the Gospel in the third Christian
millennium.
The development of networking for the National Center is on the way. We
cannot keep silent. We must build a nationwide network of Haitian
Catholics who will remain in contact to advance the work of the National
Center. We are very grateful to those Haitian Catholic communities who
have already agreed to register in the National Center network. Everyone
has his or her place in our network, once you believe in the necessity
to be one as a church and one as the Haitian community in the diaspora.
The National Center and the Committee of Solidarity of Pastoral College
students thank all the volunteers who helped us to prepare this event.
Also, we offer a special word of thanks to Father Patrick Aris, the
director of the Haitian apostolate in the Archdiocese of Washington, for
writing a poem for this gathering. This priest-poet is devoted to the
unity of the Haitian Catholic community in the diaspora.
We would like to wish all our participants a good mini-convention. The
National Center will send you driving directions this week or early next
week. Whether you are flying or driving, have a safe trip. If you have
any questions about this mini-convention, feel free to e-mail us at
solidarite@optonline.net. Please be on time!
P.S. If you'd like to dress for the occasion, allow us to suggest that
you buy one of the T-Shirts commemorating our 23rd Convention. They
remain available at the National Center. Anyone who wants to order one
can call the National Center at 718-856-3323. And we encourage those who
bought these T-shirts for the 23rd Convention to wear them at the
mini-convention.
Fraternally yours,
FrÃre Buteau (Brother Tob)
Pastoral agents,
Please make an effort to bring your church members. To worship the Father in
Spirit and truth as the Lord says in John 4:22, 23, the worshipers need
something to offer from their hands, their hearts, and their heads. These gatherings
are not only for fellowship purposes, but learning how to build up our
communities as well.
Thanks,
Nekita
