I just got finished reading Kathie Klarreich's memoir which revisits the
coup period.  Any peice of literature that refers back to that period, or to
that of Duvalier one and two, makes quite clear that the Aristide government
was not the same as those that have preceeded it.  What people endured
during that time of military and macoute horror is certainly not a laughing
matter, nor worth making flip and general statements that do nothing to
illuminate the complex situations of the past and that of the present.
