26255: frank eaton(ask): Horace D. Ashton (fwd)
From: Frank Eaton <frankeaton@mac.com>
I'm seeking information about Horace Ashton, who was the American cultural attache to Haiti from 1940 to 1946. After retiring from the foreign service he bought a villa (called Villarosa) in the hills above Port au Prince where he lived until his death in 1976.
If anyone on the list knew Horace, or knew someone who knew Horace, I'd be particularly interested in communicating with you (Quick! before Bob's vacation!). I'm slowly accumulating a lot of fascinating material about this man's pre-Haiti adventures, but need interviews to illuminate his post-1940 Haitian experiences.
Also, if anyone has experience with the Haitian national archives, drop me a note please.
