Haiti , Elections and Beyond:

Opportunities for Democratic Cooperation





Sunday, November 20 from 3 PM- 6 PM





Part I: The opening panel will include three invited guests:



--> Jean Max Bellerive, Director of the Unit of Coordination &
Monitoring of Public Policies, GOH/UNDP

    "The structure and current status of the electoral process, with
special attention to the local elections "



--> Michel Soukar , Historian/Professor and Journalist

    "What should follow the elections in order to build democracy?"



--> Gepsie Metellus , Executive Director of The Haitian Neighborhood
Center, Sant La

    "The role of the diaspora in the strengthening of democracy"



Part II: A facilitated question & answer period.



Part III: Focused discussions on the role of the diaspora in the
democratic development in Haiti.

The purpose of the event is to engage the community in a discussion
about the long-term growth of democracy in Haiti as the country prepares
for local and national elections.  A particular focus will be to develop
the role of the diaspora in supporting democracy in Haiti.  The forum
will explore key issues affecting Haiti without delving into electoral
politics.
