The Mikerline Dance Company:
This troupe was founded in 2002 in NY by dancer &
Choreographer, Mikerline Pierre. The multicultural group of
dancers and drummers are taking Haitian Folklore to a new
level. The troupe's goal is to be the ambassador of the
Haitian culture, expressed in dances, music, and exciting
choreography. Haitian folklore is more than dance movements.
Each dance possesses a history that shapes its execution and
ignites its expression. Folklore is one of the most expressive
ways to learn about Haitian history. From "yanvalou" to
"rara," each dance pulsates through the body in its own unique
way because every movement has a meaning, a history and reason
for being.
