27163: Ives (reply) Re: 27139: Simidor (reply) Re: 27134: Collesano: Haiti Progres vs. Batay Ouvriye Round III (fwd)
From: K. M. Ives
Simidor, in his last post, first attacks the messengers of the NED/Batay
Ouvriye link -- "Sprague, Ives and Haiti Progres" -- for their imagined "trust
funds," acceptance of "blood money" (a slur already refuted on this list), and
lack of "real, concrete organizing."
He also charges that the "Lavalas Family" party (not the Haitian government,
mind you) collected "millions... from NED, USAID and other US government
programs," without ever producing one example of that, as I have previously
asked him to do on this list.
Ironically, he then dismisses the NED and USAID support to Batay Ouvriye as
just a necessary "compromise" for which they are "scrambling," and for which he
is "not interested in finding excuses."
He goes from one extreme to the other. One minute, he's in his doctrinaire
ivory tower hurling mud at the Lavalas Family, Haiti Progres and others for
"compromises" he perceives, and next minute he is justifying Batay Ouvriye's
collaboration with renowned and documented agencies of imperialism like the
Solidarity Center and NED as mere "compromises," not a complete sell-out.
Once again, the issue here is: WHY does the U.S. government see it in its
interest to funnel money to Batay Ouvriye?
Finally, let's stop the ad hominem attacks. Sprague cites his sources and proof
when he makes an argument. Simidor does not. The amount or source of Sprague's
income has no relevance whatsoever on whether the article he has written has
merit.
