27562: Labrom (reply) re 27516 out and about (fwd)
From Jacqui Labrom
I gather from my contacts that there was indeed an air of partying out on
the streets last nite. People were out very late and seemed to be having
fun.
I was told that many people had started lining up outside the voting centres
at midnite on Monday!!!
There were problems during the day because people thought that the CEP had
said they could vote ANYWHERE and of course they were turned away to go to
the correct centre. However by the end of the day they were allowing them to
vote anywhere they liked!!!! One of the people at my house had registered in
Camp Perrin and went and voted in DElmas 75!!
So I hope that the bad guys didn?t hear about this and went and voted twice
somewhere else. Although my English class students all showed me with pride
their marked fingers!! So perhaps that would stop any double voting.
What was sweet was that the people I met were so proud of having voted!! Are
we in our own countries?!!
For the Dream Team Govt. ? if Preval gets in ? he should take Charlito as
Minister of Industry and Commerce,
Manigat as Minister of Education and Rigaud who is a lawyer as Minister of
Justice.
Any other ideas???
By the way theoretically one can keep up with the way the voting is going by
clicking on to www.cep-ht.org ? There is a heading called Consultation
Données Partielles Elections 2006 in RED but I?ve just checked it and
there?s no stats on it yet but hey this is Haiti!!. But some bigshot from
the CEP said on Monday nite that they would be inputting the stats straight
on to the website. So you can all follow on.
