	The Congress of Santa Barbara (KOSANBA), the scholarly association
for the study of Haitian Vodou, is pleased to announce its Seventh
International Colloquium. The colloquium will meet at the Charles H.
Wright Museum of African American History, on March 31st - April, 1st,
2006.


Theme:   LAFANMI-A SANBLE: RELIJYON AFRIK-GINEN RASANBLE
	 Family Resemblances: African-derived Religions Meet


Topics:

Theology, literature, comparative approaches, historical formations,
philosophy, rituals, healing, performing arts, food, gender and sexuality,
independent devotees (outside established houses, terreiros or hounfo).

	African religions and systems of spirituality are global and
transnational in their scope and impact. KOSANBA desires to
address the similarities, the differences, the continuities and
discontinuities, the cross-pollination, the adaptations that have allowed
African-derived religions and spiritual systems to survive in the context
of the Americas.

	Please join us on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st, 2006
in Detroit, Michigan.
