28318: lyall (reply) paper briquette machines (fwd)
from jdlyall:
I lived with Jane Wynne's paper briquette machine. It's kul, they make
little cylindrical sections of dried paper. They burn OK, but make more
smoke than charcoal. So, peyizan do not like them.
There was a guy with a bigger machine down in la ville. He came up to
confer with Ms Wynne about finding business opportunities for the final
product. Getting the charcoal bakeries to use the paper briquets is
apparently difficult.
I saw a nice big briquette making machine at the eco-fair out by the
Lake last spring. It was made at the Nuns place up in Hinche. By whatis
name's place. Chavanne.
THe bottom line here is that none of these things are going to work
without penalties for burning charcoal. People are too used to, and
comfortable with, charcoal.
