I live and work in southern Haiti with the poor you so easily misrepresent.
The money usually comes from relatives living in the US or Canada or Europe
who know what the poverty here is like.  There are people here taking unfair
advantage of the desperately poor and there are dishonest poor just like in
your country.  I'm sorry that their "onerous begging" offends you.  It
bothers me, too, at times and then I remember that I know I will eat
tomorrow, that I can find medicine when I am sick, that I could care for my
family if I had one here.
