28543: :28534: Hoover response; Simidor (news): Aristide, target of drug probe (fwd)
From: "Hoover, Julie H." <Hoover@pbworld.com>
Hello Daniel Simidor,
It would be helpful to many of us if you could explain the following
charge you recently made: "Personally I think it is beyond doubt that,
given
Aristide's dependency on the Steele Foundation's
mercenaries for his close proximity security between
2001 and 2004, the US already have the goods on
Aristide."
It is my understanding that Aristide had good reason to believe the US
might support a coup against him when George Bush got elected,
especially given what happened during his first presidency. Many people
on this list have offered a wide range of plausible (not necessarily
valid, but reasonably speculative) reasons why the Bush people might
have wanted to ouster Aristide, and I can't recall anyone mentioning
drug connections except you.
Couldn't it be that because of multiple reasons, none of which involved
drug connections, Aristide felt very vulnerable and retained a private
security service?
