FRANCOIS GUILLAUME APPOINTED HAITIAN-AMERICAN CHAMBER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

MIAMI _ The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) has named Francois Guillaume Jr. as its first executive director.

Since being formed 18 months ago, HACCOF has served as an advocate for the community as well as a resource for consumers and businesses dedicated to serving the needs of its members and the economic development needs of the broader Haitian-American community.

“Mr. Guillaume brings a wide spectrum of expertise that will facilitate our needs to strengthen the chamber’s strategic planning, finance and administration, fundraising, and communications,” said Raoul Siclait, chairman of the HACCOF board. “We know he will take the chamber to the next level and bring renewed focus to the benefit of all the members.”

Guillaume worked for Tiger Direct, a major computer retailer, as a senior accountant and senior financial analyst for five years. Earlier this year, he opened his own consulting firm which specializes in financial and commodities consulting. In 2002, Mr. Guillaume founded LIJECH (French acronym for League of Young Haitian Entrepreneurs and Professionals), a nonprofit organization made up of a wide network of young professionals in the U.S, Canada, France and Haiti. Through that organization, Guillaume has been actively participating in forums about the economic development of Haitian communities outside the small island nation, as well as in Haiti.

“I hope to capitalize on the work that has already been done by the board and make this chamber what it is destined to be: A beacon of light for the Haitian business communities in the Diaspora as well as in Haiti,” Guillaume said.

Guillaume holds bachelor’s degrees in both international relations and economics as well as a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in economic policy from Florida International University.

“Mr. Guillaume has an educational background in economics and management. As a small business owner and consultant, he possesses a broad experience in the areas of business development, communications and marketing” said HACCOF Board Member and Treasurer Pierre Saliba. “The board looks forward to working with Mr. Francois in his capacity as Executive Director.”
