HAITIAN PERFORMING COMPANY INVITES YOU TO A SACRED HOLIDAY FETE DECEMBER
16TH IN BROOKLYN

La Troupe Makandal, New York¹s center for Afro-Haitian drum and dance,
presents Part Two (Night of Fire) of Rising Sun: a Vodou Drama of Death and
Rebirth in Three Parts.  Night of Fire engages the audience in activities
common in Haiti in December. Salute the Marasa, the Twins who represent the
innocence and caprice of childhood, the twinned nature of humans (male and
female, mortal and immortal), and the division of the original cosmic whole.
Help create a magical ben de chans (luck bath) prepared under the auspices
of the Petwo nation, guardians of fire.  Take a ride on the powerful pulse
of petwo, kongo, kita, boumba, and other rare and classic Vodou grooves.

Music arrangements by NEA Heritage Fellow Master Drummer Frisner Augustin.
Light refreshments for sale.  Admission at the door: $15 general, $10
students/seniors.  FREE admission for children age 12 and under.
