 Lance, it seems you have struck a nerve here.  GOOD..You are right.
 Especially about people saying "off the wall remarks" about the
 bourgeoisie.

   It's easy to blame the bourgeoisie.  After all, isn't Haiti suppose to
 be the only country in the Western Hemisphere (except for Cuba) where the
 private sector does not control the politics?  This is changing.  Groups
  like l84 and political parties are involved.  But for those of us who
 live here and have worked here for the past 35 years, we know that while
 the private sector (preferred over the word bourgeois) may be guilty of
 not getting involved,  (difficult in Haitian society) ..they are the same
 people who invest in the country by providing jobs, and contribute
 unselfishly and generously to worthwhile projects, education, schools and
 charities.

   Of course, more could have been done, especially after the Duvalier
 era... especially in politics.  You don't have to be a politician to be
 political.. Support your political party!!!
