re: Jacques Brel
About 30 or so years ago, I went to a Jacques Brel performance in Chicago
given by a troop from New York. I bought the album and played it for nearly
everyone who had the misfortune to visit our home at that time. We have moved
several times and have lost the album but still remember his insight and how
well he expressed it in his music. It brought back pleasant old memories
when you mentioned it. I have orphanages, churches and schools in Haiti and
my
wife is a nurse. We hold clinics in remote areas several times a year. I
have been working in Haiti since 1971 and have never seen the situation as
desperate as it is now. I chuckle when I read posts accusing one group or
another for the current crime and kidnappings. Which group was supplied with
the
most guns? It doesn't really matter, I plan to continue to do what I do and
stay close to my compound in Haiti. I long for the times when we could walk
all the way down Delmas to the Iron Market or stop by the Hotel Ol. or any
casino or La Lambi for a coke, returning after midnight without worrying about
being kidnapped, robbed or killed. Peace
