Former Prime Minister Yvon Neptune denounces the support given to the
machine of injustice that held him in prison for two years.
Port-au-Prince, January 15, 2007 -(AHP)- The former Prime Minister, Yvon
Neptune, called Monday for solidarity in the pursuit against what he
calls the political machine of injustice that held him in jail for 2 years and
that continues to plague Haiti under the control of those who are swept
away by their madness for power, he said.
In his first statement of the new year, Neptune, who was incarcerated
following accusations from organizations with close ties to the
former regime, again thanked those who stood in solidarity with him throughout
his struggle.
He underlined that more than 5 months after his release, no decision
has been made to bring to light the real motives for his incarceration.
Allegations from NCHR/Haiti (RNDDH) that he ordered a supposed
massacre in La Scierie (Saint-Marc) were rejected by all serious human rights
organizations, including CARLI, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.
The former Prime Minister to President Aristide made it known that
the machine of injustice that continues to permeate through Haiti seems to want
to drag the country deeper and deeper into a state where it cannot govern
itself.
We could even have the impression that there is no President, Prime
Minister, or head of the Senate, said Neptune.
Many of those who were imprisoned under the interim regime continue
to rot in jail unjustly, whereas the henchmen and those responsible for the
massacres walk freely with impunity, he said.
My political ethics do not allow me to be complicit in any political
maneuvering seeking to defile and assassinate my brothers, declared the former
head of government.
Neptune invited all citizens to unity and stand in solidarity for the
establishment of a state of law in Haiti were brothers and sisters
throughout the country could live in respect and dignity.
