29964: Durban (comment): re. 29916 Lauredansr on tourism (fwd)
Lance Durban <lpdurban@yahoo.com> comments:
In responding to Leiderman's lament about no mention of Haitian Tourism
in a recent NY Times article on Caribbean vacation spots, Lauredansr
ask us to send conference proposals because
"Aldy is coming back at the end of the week.
He is scheduled to bring it to USAID."
I don't know who Aldy is and what proposal he is bringing to USAID, but
hey, he could certainly publicize a 5 day 4 night Caribbean junket our
firm has planned. It is described on our website:
http://www.manutech.us/haititrademission.htm
Our "Haiti Trade Mission" includes a short seminar on "Lean
Manufacturing" (there's your business expense tax justification), and
the price IS subsidized by us. We are looking for manufacturers with
products to build in our plant (primarily, but not exclusively,
electronic components). We have found that the best way to show a
potential client we are not working under a mango tree is to get them
to visit us in Haiti! These days, it is a hard sell, but any
Corbetter's interested can contact me off-list for further info.

Lance Durban
