From: Greg Chamberlain <GregChamberlain@compuserve.com>
(AP, 10 Feb 07)
The U.N. peackeeping mission in Haiti consists of 6,684 soldiers and
1,692 civilian police officers. They were sent to the troubled country to
help restore order following the violent rebellion in 2004 that ousted
President Jean Bertrand Aristide. Haiti's own army was disbanded by
Aristide in 1994 and the National Police are too few to cover the country.
