thanks to Greg Chamberlain for posting the AP story on Venezuela's pledge of US$20 million to Haiti.  going to Spanish citations for a little more "heads up", Google's entertaining Engish translations [below] make me wonder if Haiti knows what it is "backing" into?

note also Venez's nod to the French Revolution, not the American one.

The state being Economic and Social Development bank of Venezuela (Bandes) decided with the Chancellery the creation a humanitarian bottom for Haiti 20 million dollars, informed Monday the government.

The Bandes subscribed Monday an agreement with the Venezuelan Chancellery to create the bottom of 20 million dollars for the Caribbean country.

The state bank said in an official notice that the bottom must like objective âoffer humanitarian aid and carry out programs of cooperation in the sister Republic of Haiti in as high-priority matters as health, education, electricity, potable water, sanitary house, fillings, nourishing security, fuel provisionsâ.

ABN. - A contract of administration of resources by 20 million dollars (43 millardos of bolivars) subscribed the Economic and Social Development bank of Venezuela (Bandes) and the Ministry of the Popular Power for Relaciones Exteriores (MRE), in order to create a humanitarian bottom for Haiti.

According to information of a bulletin of press of the Bandes, like part of historical, social, political and human a commitment assumed by the Government of the president of the Republic, Hugo Chavez You cold, to recover of integral way the Haitian town signed this contract of administration.

This bottom must like objective offer humanitarian aid and develop programs of cooperation in Haiti, in as high-priority aspects as health, education, electricity, potable water, sanitary house, fillings, nourishing security and fuel provisions, as well as other projects that are necessary to dignificar and to recover the well-being of the Haitian town.

The vice-minister of Financing for the Endogenous Development and president of Bandes, Rafael Isea Romero, said that the company/signature of this agreement comes to represent a step more in the process of cooperation between Venezuela and Haiti.

âIt is the reaffirmation of the commitment assumed by the Government of the president, Hugo Chavez You cold, with the Haitian Government, who allows to have resources to attack the problem of the poverty and to generate solutions in high-priority areas to that nationâ, he added.

Caracas, 5 sea (EFE). - The Venezuelan Government created a âhumanitarian bottomâ for Haiti by 20 million dollars, destined to the financing of social programs, of infrastructure and energy, today informed the Economic and Social Development bank into Venezuela (Bandes).
The constitution of the bottom âallows to have a series of resources to attack the problem of the poverty and to generate a series of solutions in high-priority areasâ to Haiti, affirmed in an official notice the president of the Bandes, Rafael Isea Romero.
The humanitarian bottom for Haiti âmust like objective carry out programs of cooperation (...) in as high-priority matters as health, education, electricity, potable water, sanitary house, fillings, nourishing security, fuel provisions, among other projectsâ, added the official information.
The financial instrument was born with the company/signature of âcontract of administration of resourcesâ between the Bandes and the Venezuelan Ministry of Outer Relations, needed the official notice the state bank.

Within the framework from Petrocaribe, Haiti must receive â7,000 daily barrels of crudeâ that will be able to pay âin 90 days the 60 percent of invoicesâ and to the ârest 40 percents to them in 25 years with 1 percent of interest and two years of graceâ, in agreement with the Venezuelan official information.
