M. Pierre made the assertion: "BO is the only Independent Workers Movement created and controlled by Workers on the ground in Haiti today"
Now that IS a provocative statement and an error. The fédération des transporteurs publics haïtiens and the confédération des travailleurs haïtiens organize independently AND with no program vis-à-vis US State Department funding.
Haitian trade unionists speak kreyòl ayisyen and rarely, if ever, have access to the internet. So the erratic assertions of M. Pierre and friends are left unanswered. That is until people take the time to translate interviews with other trade unionists: http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?ItemID=9060
The ability to sell yourself and speak the donor language does not characterize you as independent. Since circa 1990 foreign donors have wanted to hear slurs against the Lavalas grassroots. Those are the voices they augment and applaud.
Haitain trade unionists have been violently targeted for supporting democracy. Here is a small sampling of related websites: http://storage.paxchristi.net/AM32E04.pdf , http://labornotes.org/node/230 , http://www.workersliberty.org/node/6573 , http://www.ijdh.org/pdf/HaitiWomensDelJan05REPORT.pdf ,
