I really appreciated John's posting but the biggest thing AFTER "There
is no money" is that people steal the solar panels - this is the
biggest deterrent for having solar here. Unless you cement them in! I
don't know what they do with them if they steal them cos if they use
them then someone else will steal theirs!!!
I was pleased a few months ago to see that 3 main traffic lights - at
the crossroads of Delmas and the airport road (Blvd. Toussaint
Louverture), "Anba Lumyè" as they call the lights at the crossroads of
John Brown and Martin Luther King (Lalue & Ruelle Nazon), and at the
crossroads of St. Theresa's RC church in PVille there were solar
panels providing the lights for the traffic lights!!! But now I see
that the ones in PVille have disappeared - the whole traffic lights
and not just the solar panels - have no idea why. The others seem to
be working, but I'm surprised they didn't install solar panels on all
the wonderful traffic lights on the 'newish' airport road aka
Toussaint Louverture. They even had left arrows and right arrows!!!
WOW But the lights no longer work cos there's obviously not enough
electricity.
Mind you having said this we're enjoying some wonderfully long 12
hours plus electricity - well, I am in Delmas 75. Don't know how the
rest of PauP is doing!!!
I remember a Haitian friend of mine years ago saying to me, after they
had increased the amount of Ed'H from 4 hours to 8 hours, "They're
giving us so much Ed'H they're wasting it"!!! Only we in Haiti would
say that. I thought it was so funny.
