To suggest as some have done here that French is doomed 

in Haiti is to misread the linguistic situation there.

Notwitstanding the misuse French has been put through in Haiti, 

-- something that has been discussed on Corbett ad nauseum --  

in reality such an outcome would be tantamount to having 

a lobotomy performed on the Haitian people.

American friends of Haiti who are contemplating such an outcome

- a few seemingly with some glee - should ponder the situation in 

Puerto Rico where a similar job was attempted on the Spanish 

language.

The results are well known!
