#776: Faustin Souloque's crown: several responses

Faustin Souloque's coronation crown was made of cardboard painted gold. The
one currently in question resided in the National Museum in Port Au Prince
as late as June 1986 when I videotaped it for research I was doing for my
screenplay on the adventures of the Marine Faustin Wirkus. No, you can't
blame the Duvalier government for that one. It is quite beautiful, tho a
jewel or two are missing. If it's not there now, the culprit has to come
from the ranks of dictators post-Doc.

For s spell, it was in a vault of the Banque Nationale. It seemed to
have disappeared under Francois Duvalier, as apparently other powerful
symbols such as the Acte d'Independance which is said to be in private
hands in Massachussetts somewhere. > >

I do believe this crown was removed and taken by Jean Claude in 1986.  sseitz
