#1502: Immigration of African-American to Haiti under Boyer1825 MOre sources

From: Joel Dreyfuss <jdreyfuss@ibm.net>

Another source of information about migration back to Africa (and Haiti's
peripheral role) are the archives of the American Colonization Society,
which financed the back-to-Liberia movement. The Library of Congress or
Smithsonian web site once posted some remarkable early photographs
(daguerrotypes, to be precise) of key figures in the ACS.

1825: Benson comments

The REv. Theodore Holly, once of Boston. later of Haiti, was active in
some of the several efforts to get Haitians (and US ) settled back in
Africa, especially in Liberia. This suggests that docuemnts in archives in
Boston; US State Department, Washington D.C.; the Protestant Episcopal
Church of the U.S., Episcopal church of Haiti all may have documents
relating to this project.
