I find this a disgrace - I may be stating the obvious here..... but the DR 
finds no problem in exploiting Haitian labor in the cane fields, but the 
Government doesnt want the burden of caring for the population that is 
created in the DR as a result of these bateys. And to add insult to injury, 
refuses to grant citizenship to those born on Dominican soil.

If the DR is calling on the international community to assist in the expenses 
incurred by the masses of poor laborers within their borders who are of 
Haitian descent, they should respect the findings of international human 
rights observers, and not turn to mass deportations under often 
brutal/abusive conditions as a temporary solution.
