If it wasn't mentioned previously, Francis Huxley, in his 1966 book The 
Invisibles: Voodoo Gods in Haiti, reported on his research into Haitian 
medicinal plants.  There is a 5 page glossary of plants at the back of 
the book listing common and scientific names along with suggested uses, 
medicinal and other.  For examples Ave for driving away bedbugs and 
loupgarous, Calebasse to stop young girls from being seduced, and 
Assorossi to whiten the skin of unborn children! ( I presume this plant 
is more popular on the other side of the island ).            Jim
