#3452: US invasion: Chamberlain replies to Grey (fwd)
From: Greg Chamberlain <GregChamberlain@compuserve.com>
Come off it, Kathy. LOL, ROTFL etc. Never mind about the Nazis, an
invasion is when a bunch of people burst into your country, home or
whatever without invitation. The generals were threatened and forced to
issue an invitation to the US military, so it wasn't a proper invitation.
A couple of months earlier, the US obtained a mandate from the US Security
Council to invade Haiti. The negotiations between Carter etc. and Cedras a
few days before it happened was just to reduce the chance of bloodshed, an
effort which succeeded.
The "Togolais and Bangladeshis and Italians and Nigerians" came afterwards
as window-dressing, a routine trick by any serious imperialist nation.
