The Haitian American Alliance invites you to its Fifth Annual Benefit: Soiree
Tropical, an elegant evening of jazz, Haitian cuisine, and good company.  The
event will take place on Saturday June 24, 2000 , 7:30 pm at the Soho Studios -
1317 Laight street NYC.   The evening will feature pianist Edner Guignard with
singer Gary French, Rigaud Simon and his group performing jazz classics and
ballads.The Stone Galerry along with guest artist Gary Darius will display art
for sale.

We will take the time to honor Haitian-American who made great contributions in
their field.  Among the honorees are Prof. Leslies Dessmangles, author Patrick
Lemoine, and business leader Franck Cine.  The evening will also be a tribute to
the prominent force in "Compas" music, Tabou Combo, who will receive this year's
Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Haitian American Alliance (HAA) is a non-profit volunteer organization based
in the Fltabush section of Brooklyn dedicated to the development of Haitian
communities in New York City and is especially committed to the needs of Haitian
youth.  As part of the organization's ongoing efforts, each year, it provides
scholarships to college bound Haitian students and runs a computer learning
center where students learn the latest in computer technology and access the
Internet.  The proceeds from this event will go towards our Scholarship program
and help support the work of HAA.
