#5066: ANADIP: Gas Stations to Close for 3 Days (fwd)

According to Radio Métropole, ANADIP

(the National Association of Petroleum Products

Distributors) has announced that gas stations

nationwide will be closed for 3 days starting on

September 11 to protest the recent increase (44%) in

the price of petroleum products. According to ANADIP,

this decision was arrived at unilaterally and has reduced

the profit margin of distributors.

For his part, Camille Chalmers of PAPDA (Platform for an

Alternative Development) has also criticized this decision

because the GOH has failed to adopt measures that would

provide partial relief to the poorer segments of society

as was done in the DR.
