A most fascinating phenomena in vodou is the possesion of a person by a 
spirit of the opposite sex. When a man is possesed by the female loa Erzuli 
he takes on all of Erzuli's  characteristics but isn't necessarily a 
homosexual or "queen", just as a female possesed by Ogou takes on the 
characteristics of the male loa.Their bodies are just a vehicle for the 
female or male loa. It is very normal and natural and exposes the 
vodou/Haitian population to something that gives them a different perspective 
on the sexes and sexuality. It doesn't mean the social stigmas aren't there, 
its just a broader perspective.
