Haiti foreign minister addresses OAS

Washington, CANA - Haiti's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph
Philippe Antonio, said Wednesday that the troubled Caribbean nation
was in a "search for a consensual solution of the crisis stemming from
the elections of May 21, 2000". Antonio, who was addressing the
Permanent Council of the Organisation of American States (OAS) here,
presented a new calendar for legislative elections. The newly-appointed
foreign minister noted that a number of measures had already been
implemented in keeping with an eight-point plan of engagement to
which President Jean Bertrand Aristide had committed himself in a letter
to the United States last December 27.
