Joint OAS/CARICOM initiative on Haiti

Washington, CANA - A Joint Mission composed of representatives 
of the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) 
and the Organisation of American States (OAS) has been formed 
in an attempt to resolve the political crisis in Haiti. 

A statement from the OAS Wednesday said that Barbados Prime 
Minister Owen Arthur, who is the current Chairman of the Conference 
of Heads of Government of CARICOM and OAS Secretary General 
Cesar Gaviria agreed on the mission. It will be led by Gaviria and former 
Dominican Prime Minister Dame Eugenia Charles.
