CARICOM Mission to Haiti ends in disappointment
Port-au-Prince, Haiti, CANA - A joint exploratory Organisation of 
American States-Caribbean Community and Common Market mission 
to Haiti left here on Sunday, reporting regret and disappointment. 

OAS Assistant Secretary-General Luigi Einaudi said at the end of the 
visit he regretted not even being able to get the opposition grouping 
and President Jean Bertrand Aristide to meet to resolve their political 
differences. 

The mission, which also comprised CARICOM's Assistant 
Secretary-General Albert Ramdeen, went to the politically-troubled nation 
to prepare the way for a full OAS-CARICOM team, expected to include 
the OAS Secretary-General, Cesar Gaviria.
