a782: Wash.Post article on Carnival 2002 (Saint-Vil asks foreye-witness feedback) (fwd)
From: Jean Saint-Vil <jafrikayiti@hotmail.com>
Not disputing the celebrity of president Sweet Micky or the timeliness of
his «diri» lyrics, I wonder if anyone, currently in Haiti, can tell us a bit
about other themes covered during carnival 2002. And, please can you tell us
how these lyrics are received by Haitians, the local alien (MRE) class,
yourself and, of course, the ever-present U.S. embassy.
I know that in 2000 and 2001 several groups focussed attention, among other
things, on the hypocritical, forked-tongued, coup-plotting embassies. Was
this theme completely left alone this year or ii it simply being ignored by
the free press?
Mèsi davans,
Jafrikayiti
