Haitian minister to question French ambassador over "inappropriate" remarks

[Announcer] The French ambassador to Haiti [Yves Gaudeul] will soon be
summoned by the Haitian foreign minister following the declaration he made
last week to call for a return to constitutional normalcy in Haiti. In a
communique made public on Friday [19 April], the government said that it
condemns the inappropriate statements, indeed even the racist connotations
that the accredited diplomats in Haiti allow themselves to make.
In that document, the Lavalas regime thinks that those words constitute a
form of interference in the internal affairs of the country in violation of
the Vienna Convention. Thus, the government announces that Foreign Minister
Joseph Philippe Antonio is responsible for summoning the French ambassador
to question him about the statement he made so that favourable conditions
may be created for better relations between France and Haiti.
The government also wishes to renew its firm intention to preserve the best
possible relations with the states that are represented in Haiti despite
sometimes inadequate behaviour on the part of certain diplomats.
