CALL TO ORDER: President John Corbett called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. at the home of Bob Corbett, as the key to the St. James Rectory was unavailable. Ten members were in attendance. Members: Bob Corbett, John Corbett, Tom Haller, Henry Herbst, Bill Miller, Gerry Miller, Carol Nemeth, Sally Sharamitaro, Joe and Theresa Weisbrod.
Minutes of Last Meeting -A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the November 10, 2007 meeting. A vote was taken, the motion passed and the minutes were approved. Approval was waived for the undocumented minutes of the very short February 9, 2008 meeting.
Treasurer’s Report - Bob Corbett, Treasurer, presented the current treasurer’s report for the first quarter of 2008. The beginning balance was $4,455.60. Deposits totaled $45.00; expenditures totaled $0.00, resulting in a new ending balance of $4500.60. A motion was made and seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. A vote was taken, the motion passed and the treasurer’s report was approved.
GENERAL BUSINESSArchives/Donations– –Henry Herbst reported that a CD of the Compton and Dry Map Book is available for $10.00 and he will attempt to purchase one for the DHS.
Bob took the opportunity to do a Show and Tell for the members at today’s meeting. This time it was to discuss future projects for members, committees, and groups, etc, and also to demonstrate the new DHS projector.
Bob connected the new projector to Sally Sharamitaro’s laptop for access to the Dogtown Website and computerized DHS archives. These archives included historic maps, photos and documents.
There was much discussion of the maps and mines, their location, etc, and memories reported by individuals of the mines and what remained of the mines. Members were urged to consider either joining current or creating new historic projects that might be of interest to them.

Living History - No Report Membership Update - No ReportNomination and Election of Officers – Next month information will be gathered on our current Officers and Board Members and a slate of officers and board members for election or re-election will be announced.
Lecture Series - Bob reminded the members that the Speakers Series Lecture that was scheduled to be held on the evening of December 9th, at 7:00 pm, in St. James School Cafeteria had to be cancelled due to the weather. A fall lecture is planned. OLD BUSINESSBench Project -John reported that two more benches have been constructed and installed and that the price for future benches will increase. Each bench will now cost $490.00 which is $100.00 more than our previous costs.
John also informed the members that several projects are on hold, either in committee or in discussion. The neighborhood banners and several bench permits are still in committee at city hall. The plans for a bench and plaque planned for the gazebo area are on hold as the owner and alderman are in continued consultation and discussion about the improvements planned for that property.

NEW BUSINESSDogtown Historical Society and St. Patrick’s Day Parade - The Lohr Company planned to provide funds for several porta-potty’s to be placed around Dogtown on March 17th for Parade Day. However they weren’t certified as a 501C3 organization, so they contacted John who stated that the DHS would be happy to work together with Lohr to provide this very valuable service to the Dogtown neighborhood.
