VOLUNTEER MEDICAL PERSONNEL NEEDED
The Batey Relief Alliance [BRA], in collaboration with the Association of
Haitian Physicians Abroad [AMHE], is sponsoring its 10th medical relief
mission in the Dominican Republic. The purpose is to assess medical needs,
control epidemics, educate about HIV/AIDS, and provide basic medical, dental
and optometry care to the impoverished population, including the Haitian
migrant laborers and their families languishing in sugar cane plantations'
labor camps or bateyes of San Pedro de Macoris. The medical intervention
will take place from July 12th through July 21st, 2002. For more
information about the plight of the Haitian migrant laborers and the BRA 's
humanitarian mission, please visit our new website at www.bateyrelief.org.
