#253: Bwa Kayiman in Brooklyn (fwd)

From: Lois E Wilcken <makandal-ny@juno.com>

For those who will be in New York City this weekend:

La Troupe Makandal and Master Drummer Frisner Augustin (1999 NEA Heritage
Fellow) will celebrate Bwa Kayiman in Brooklyn's Prospect Park on
Saturday, August 14, 4 pm. The event takes place at the Oriental
Pavilion. The best way to get there is by the D train. Get off at the
Prospect Park station, exit on Lincoln Road. Follow Lincoln into the
Park (this is on the Ocean Avenue side of the Park), bear left, and
you'll find the Pavilion about 200 yards in from the Park entrance. The
event, of course, is free. It's supported by the Brooklyn Arts Council,
Meet the Composer, and Brooklyn Union Gas.

We don't anticipate any anti-Vodou demonstrators, but who knows! Anyway,
we've got Makandal and Boukman on our side.
