#870: Lavinia Williams and Haitian dance: Another reply

Lavinia Williams was one of the principal dancers with the Katrherine Dunham Company in the 30's and 40's. She visited Haiti with the Dunham Dancers during the presidency of Paul Magloire during the 150th year celebrations in 1953.  Sshe moved to Haiti at that time with her family Husband Bill Yarborough and two daughters Sharon and Sara.  She started a school of ballet which was an instant hit with the elite.  there was a yearly recital at the Institut Francais.  Her daughters grew up in Haiti.  Sara, became the famous Sara Yarborough, dancing with the Dance Theater of Harlem as well as The Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe.
