#1373: haiti/cuba/miami : Gill replies to Morse

From: mark gill <markgill@midwest.net>

there is very little "heart" in politics.....certainly not at the policy
level of the US government or any other government.....there is certainly no
"heart" in the govt of Haiti.....

one simply has to come to terms with what is called "realpolitik", a German
expression that was coined by Bismarck in Germany in l870.....this term
applies regardless of which country one speaks about.....

the simple fact is that cuban refugees have a different position re the US
than Haitian refugees have....the answer lies in the role of the Cold War
during the past 40 years......this fact has not changed since Cuba is still
communistic....

plus, in terms of overall US policy re the world, the policy regarding the
caribbean which includes Cuba and Haiti is just not a high profile
issue......the truth is, few care, one way or another......

most Americans are not effected by what happens in Haiti or Cuba....never
have been effected, and never will be......this is "realpolitik"........good
or bad, this is reality.....

i have said this before and will say it again......until Haitians in the US
organize and learn to lobby the Congress, until Haitians are FINALLY willing
to work together FOR A CHANGE, then, all on the Corbett list can talk till
the "cows come home", and it wont change anything.....

the Corbett list will remain as just a place to vent.......
