I don't know if Karen Richman is on this list, but you might try to
locate her at University of Notre Dame.  In the Fall 99 issue of the HSA
Newsletter, she reported on a joint panel of the HSA and the Association
of Haitian Physicians Abroad.  The panel was called "Culture, Beliefs,
Religion, and Health."  Karen described a panel that was broad-minded and
critical--a refreshing change from the usual paternalistic dismissal of
Haitian health beliefs.  Anyway, Karen might point you to some useful
sources.
