#2717: Painting With A Broad Brush : Gill replies to Bellegarde-Smith
From: Mark Gill <firstname.lastname@example.org>
perhaps hanging on to "national religion" and "national language"
provides a needed means of identity?
is Catholicism and french the true identity of Haitians?
i have, over the years, noted a "search for identity" all over the
Caribbean...from Jamaica to Trinidad....this search is mainly among the
black population, given the colonial status they were subjected
to.....the question of "who we are" underlies much of the literature and
politics of the past few decades.....
white folk dont have much appreciation of this, given that most whites
dont have an identity problem.....
