From:Karioka9@cs.com
An Evening of Solidarity with Haitian-Cuban Musical Sensation Desandann
(Descendants)
The Haitian Coalition for Justice invites one and all to join us in a musical
evening with the hot new singing group from Cuba, "Desandann." As second and
third generation Cubans of Haitian descent, they sing traditional and
contemporary Haitian songs in Creole and Spanish. The event will also be a
fund-raiser to help the Coalition pursue its work against police brutality
and to help the victimized fight for justice.
Wed., Aug. 9, 2000 at 7pm
in the auditorium of Medgar Evers College
1650 Bedford Ave. (between Crown & Montgomery) in Brooklyn
Also performing will be famed Haitian vocalist Myriam Dorismé,
and the roots musical group Kongo.
On behalf of the Haitian community, the Coalition will present a plaque to
representatives from the Cuban Mission to the UN, as an expression of our
appreciation for the help Cuba has given Haiti in recent years.
Admission is $10.
This will be Desandann's final performance in New York.
Don't miss this opportunity to bid them a fine farewell!
Medgar Evers College is on the #2, 3, 4, 5 subway lines (Franklin Ave.
station).
