5418: Makandal announces performance series in Brooklyn (fwd)

La Troupe Makandal, with Master Drummer Frisner Augustin, invites you to

Rising Sun:  A Vodou Drama of Death and Rebirth in Three Parts

November 11 - Day of the Dead
December 16 - Night of Fire
January 13 - Carnival Dawn

This series travels through the season of the dead (the month of
November) to the fire ceremonies following winter solstice to the
beginning of Carnival season and the foreshadowing of spring.  Partake
with Makandal in these dynamic rites of drumming and dance.

All performances Saturdays at 7:30 PM

Transportation:
Subway/bus:  L to Canarsie/Rockaway Parkway (last stop); transfer to #42
bus to Avenue N
Road:  Take Flatbush Avenue south to Flatlands Avenue; make a left and
follow Flatlands to Roackaway Parkway; make a right and follow Rockaway
Parkway to Avenue N
OR, Take the Belt Parkway to Exit 13; exit onto Rockaway Parkway; follow
to Avenue N

Admission (at the door):
$7 ($5 Makandal members)
$15 for the series ($12 Makandal members)
Fine Haitian cuisine for sale after performances
