7644: BRA brings free medical care to indigents of the Dominican Republic (fwd)

From: bateyrelief@mindspring.com

Dear Friend,

It is with great pleasure to announce that the Batey Relief Alliance is
dispatching a team of highly skilled medical experts to the bateyes [labor
camps] of Monte Plata from June 8th - June 17th. The organization is
partnering with the international relief giant, the Catholic Medical Mission
Board to secure tons of donated medicine supplies and equipment - and
recruit personnel.

The purpose for the joint relief operation is to conduct research for an
immunization project and provide free medical aid in internal medicine,
pediatrics, optometry, dentistry - and preventive health education.
Thousands of needy families, including those of Haitian migrants from
various bateyes are expected to benefit from the humanitarian effort.
Patients will receive six-month medicine and vitamin supplies - prescribed
eyeglasses and eye care products to complete their short-term treatment.

We desperately need your financial contribution to help cover part of the
mission's expenses. Please mail your tax-deductible check or money order
payable to the Batey Relief Alliance, P.O. Box 300565, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11230.

We thank you in advance for your generous support. Have a wonderful holiday
week-end.

Sincerely,
Ulrick Gaillard
