I cannot help commenting on the passing on David Young.
Patrick Slavin and I visited David in his loft just a few months ago. It was the first time I had seen him after he read my cards at the Oloffson pool those many years back.
"It's a bad one". He said then. Me, who was flying high, surrounded by celebrities, living the high life of Haiti, shrugged. "Impossible". "Hah, I don't even want to tell you all, but let me say just this: When you think it's really bad, it will just get worse". He turned his ancient cards, and I believed him.
So I saw him again when life was better again. He knew this. He told me in a subsequent email he wanted to read my cards again. I was on-the-run all over the world, so to speak, and it never happened.
But I am left with the special memory of Patrick and I lounging around with him at his loft until all hours, listening to his recollections, and understanding he is one of the few people who understood the country in the off-beat way it should be understood. Let's let it go at that.
The script he gave me to read is so funny, so wonderful. And so right-on.
Peace, David. Whatever the cards say, that's how it goes. sue seitz.
